We're happy that spring is here, everything is coming back to life, lots of green beginning to emerge, and flowers blooming everywhere. The bees, surely enjoying the abundance of fruit blossoms, are busy pollinating away. Its looking like we may have a nice crop of peaches, pears, apples, and blueberries this year!
Bees aren't the only busy insects on the farm. While watering in the greenhouse, we noticed lots of ladybug eggs on the undersides of the kale. It looks like the beneficial insect habitats we created are really helping to increase their population.
Besides kale, there are lots of other veggies getting a good start as it warms up. Peas, beets, carrots, lettuce, onions, cilantro, mache, and so much more.
We really enjoyed seeing everybody come out to the Shelby Farmer's Market over the winter and are looking forward to the spring opening on April 9th. We'll be there with lots of fresh veggies and eggs, so stop by and say hello!
